--- Chunin Exam ---

Jiraiya met Naruto in the Chunin exams, Naruto demanded to train with him but refused, but then was convinced and he began to train him. While training, Jiraiya noticed that Orochimaru applied a 5 seals seal on Naruto, Jiraiya unsealed it. Jiraiya then began to try to teach Naruto how to use the Nine Tail's chakra reserves, then, he tried to teach Naruto the summoning technique. He got poor results, then he forced Naruto to use the nine tail's chakra reserves by pushing him off a cliff. Naruto survived by summoning Gamabunta.

--- Search for Tsunade ---

During Orochimaru's attack on Konohagakure, Orochimaru killed the 3rd Hokage, Jiraiya was asked to be the 5th Hokage but refused. He then volunteered to search for Tsunade for her to be the 5th Hokage. A day later, Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshikage tried to kidnap Naruto while they distracted Jiraiya. Jiraiya then performed Toad mouth trap, because no one has ever escaped it before, then Itachi uses Amaterasu to burn the walls then escaped.

After Naruto failed at trying to bring Sasuke back, Jiraiya encouraged Naruto to give up.

--- Three tails ---

Jiraiya came back to Konoha to cogratulate Naruto on beating Kakuzu, Jiraiya then began to train Naruto again. Jiraiya applauded at Naruto's success.
